Jeffrey Augustine Songco

My work explores the intersection of human connection, movement, and the natural world through bold color, form, and narrative. Across projects seen in my portfolio below, I use sculpture and installation to transform familiar materials into environments that feel vibrant, celebratory, and in motion. As a proud Filipino-American and out gay man, my work is a burst of happiness that sparks inspiration and encourages belonging to people from all walks of life.

I am thrilled to share my artwork with the US Open team for consideration. Particularly, the dynamic, multicolored forms in my projects Flower World and the Conservatory resemble tennis balls mid-bounce, with stems tracing the energy of a rally. As a kid growing up in New Jersey, I played tennis and trained as a ballet dancer and to this day, I’m drawn to how sport and competition bring people together through rhythm, focus, and shared emotion. With its sense of community and joy, the spirit of the US Open beautifully aligns with my ongoing interest in creating spaces that celebrate friendship, collective energy, and the beauty of movement.
